TrueLayer

ListedPISP / aggregator

UK and European payment initiation, VRP and payouts; a second UK PISP for substitution when one provider degrades.

What it does

Each capability by country. Integrated means Unirail’s adapter does it today; listed means TrueLayer offers it according to its public documentation, and Unirail can’t route it yet.

Banking

  • Account detailsbanking.ais.account-details

The account and routing details of an account the user links: sort code and account number, IBAN, ACH routing and account number.

  • Balancesbanking.ais.balances

Current and available balance of a linked account.

  • Transactionsbanking.ais.transactions

Transaction history of a linked account.

  • Single paymentsbanking.pis.single

One immediate payment from the payer's bank account, approved by the payer at their bank.

  • Sweeping VRPbanking.pis.vrp-sweeping

UK variable recurring payments between accounts the same person holds (sweeping), under one long-lived mandate.

  • Commercial VRPbanking.pis.vrp-commercial

UK variable recurring payments to a merchant or other third party (commercial VRP) under one mandate.

  • Payoutsbanking.payouts

Sending money from a balance the provider or the platform holds to a recipient's account.

    • listedATBEDEESFIFRIEITLTNLPTGB

From a TrueLayer merchant account. The docs say UK and EU (22 markets) without a country list; these countries are inferred from its payment coverage.

Verification

  • Verification of Payeeverification.vop

EU Verification of Payee: asks the payee's PSP whether the name matches the IBAN, as the Instant Payments Regulation requires.

Identity

  • Identity prefillidentity.prefill

Filling in a user's identity from a network or their phone or bank, so onboarding asks for less. It is not a check by itself.

Reaches many banks through open banking: links accounts and starts payments that go straight from the payer’s bank to the payee’s.

Custody

Who holds the money while a payment through TrueLayer is in flight. Unirail records custody on every leg, and your routing policy decides which kinds are allowed.

  • noneNo custody

Nobody holds the money. The payer’s bank pays the payee’s bank directly; the provider only instructs it.

  • provider-transitProvider holds in transit

The provider holds the money between collecting it from the payer and paying it out to the payee. Routes like this only appear in quotes when your routing policy admits provider-transit custody.

An environment whose policy admits only none still sees these routes in quotes, marked infeasible with this reason.

Who is regulated

With your own contract, you stay the provider’s customer. Unirail acts as your technical service provider and calls TrueLayer with your credentials.
